A GLEADLESS residential care home has won the praise of the Care Quality Commission.
Inspectors from the CQC - the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England - visited the Castelayn home in Leighton Drive, one of ten sites operated across Sheffield by not for profit organisation Sheffcare.
And the inspectors rated services good in all five main areas - safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership.
“People told us they were consistently treated with kindness, dignity and respect and without exception, people told us they felt safe and well cared for,” the CQC inspectors explained in their full report.
“Staff had built positive relationships with people living in the service and supported people to retain their independence and to remain involved in planning and reviewing their care to ensure it was provided in accordance with their own preferences.
“A visiting health professional told us staff were proactive in seeking advice about people's health and acted upon any advice given and the service maintained a close relationship with health professionals when providing care to people at the end of their life.”
Throughout the visit, the inspectors spoke to 15 residents and five of their relatives and friends.
They also spoke with seven members of staff - including three care assistants, the cook, the activities coordinator, the deputy manager and the registered manager - and they spoke with the Sheffcare Quality Manager.
“Without exception, everyone we spoke with told us they felt safe and people’s relatives and friends were confident their loved ones were safe,” the inspectors said.
Sheffcare Chief Executive Belinda Black commented: “We are always happy to welcome the CQC into one of our homes, confident that they will be impressed with what they find there.
“The comfort and safety of our residents is central to all our services and this latest report demonstrates quite clearly that we are reaching a high standard in every area required.
“A report of the standard received by Castelayn is a tribute to every member of the home’s team and proves again that they all go the extra mile to ensure of residents and their families are happy with the care and support they receive.”
