THERE was a very special guest to help one of Sheffield’s oldest residents celebrate her 103rd birthday.
For Lord Mayor of Sheffield Coun Magid Magid called in to the Knowle Hill Residential Care Home at Beighton to offer Edith Herbert his personal greetings as she celebrated with family and friends.
Edith puts her remarkable longevity down to always eating the sort of foods experts now say aren’t good for you - and enjoying the occasional drop of whisky!
“Edith has seen many Lord Mayors over the years but she was really excited to meet Coun Magid,” said Amelia Charlesworth-Dakin, of Sheffcare, the not for profit organisation that operates Knowle Hill and nine other care homes across the city.
“Coun Magid made the whole celebration very special for Edith and also found time to chat with guests and staff, making it a memorable occasion for everybody.”
