Elgarís Piano Quintet is considered by many to be his greatest chamber music work.
JANŃČEK String Quartet No.1 Kreutzer Sonata
ELGAR Romance Op.62 for bassoon and string quartet
AD»S Court Studies from The Tempest for clarinet, violin, cello and piano
ELGAR Piano Quintet in A minor Op.84
Elgarís Piano Quintet is said to have been inspired by legends of Spanish monks struck by lightning while conducting sacrilegious activities in the Sussex countryside. Thomas AdŤsís brief Court Studies, from his opera The Tempest, are a great companion to JanŠčekís Kreutzer Sonata, which is also tempestuous. Its propulsive rhythms and speech-like melodies express pathos and ecstasy through an amazing and unexpected collective string sound.
